Audi Fashion Festival announces the international & Singapore fashion designers that will work the runways this year
Audi Fashion Festival (AFF) is four this year, and with its return in 2012 comes a brand new digital platform that will revolutionise fashion and shopping in Singapore, and the theme of "Lighting the Future".
The digital platform is called Future Fashion Now (FFN) and it was created in collaboration with MasterCard Worldwide. Future Fashion Now will offer customers the chance to pre-order the looks and pieces they like as the garments go down the runway; they’ll have their orders custom-produced and delivered to them within six weeks to four months, before the actual collection even hits stores.
Not only is this exciting news because the power is now with the consumer to decide whether an item goes into production or not, it also means that you will be able to wear an item from the collection long before anyone else does.
The organisers of Audi Fashion Festival have promised that there will be at least four shows in its line-up that will have FFN capabilities; the list of brands that will offer this innovative shopping method are local labels alldressedup, Mae Pang, Max.Tan, and international labels like New York’s Timo Weiland and Jonathan Simkhai, Australia’s Yeojin Bae and Berlin’s Esther Perbandt.
Local names will make a big splash this year at Audi Fashion Festival, which will run from May 16 to May 20. Aside from names such as Raoul, alldressedup, Mae Pang and Max.Tan; Parco Next Next – Singapore’s own fashion incubator project featuring up-and-coming young designers – will show at the Tent@Orchard on May 19. Nine designers from Parco Next Next will send their collections down the runway, including brands like PAULINE.NING, Veira, evenodd and Episene.
The winners of last year’s Audi Star Creation competition, Chen Zhigang, Tiang Boon Tieon and Tsai Ming Hung will also send their capsule collections down the runway, followed by the top three winners of Audi Star Creation 2012.
Headlining Audi Fashion Festival 2012 will be French fashion brand Thierry Mugler’s Fall Winter 2012 collection, whose creative director is well-known stylist to Lady Gaga and also fashion director of Vogue Hommes Japan, Nicola Formichetti (pictured right).
The other name that will get everyone excited is French designer Roland Mouret, who is best known for creating the iconic “It” galaxy dress. The designer to stars like Victoria Beckham, Nicole Kidman and Sienna Miller, will be presenting his Fall Winter 2012 collection at Audi Fashion Festival 2012.
It is highly likely that more names will be announced in the weeks to come, so watch this space for more AFF news to come our way.
Audi Fashion Festival 2012 will take place from May 16 to May 20. For more information, go to audifashionfestival.com
